The Eternal Legend Of The People’s Princess Diana

Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you…Only do what your heart tells you. I don’t go by the rule book… I lead from the heart, not the head.” PRINCESS DIANA, Diana, Princess of Wales, was born July 1, 1961 and was perhaps the most beloved of the British royal family. Diana grew up in Park House, situated on the Sandringham estate, and was educated in England and Switzerland. Diana came to prominence in February 1981 upon her engagement to Prince Charles. The marriage produced two sons, princes William and Harry, who were then respectively second and third in the line of succession to the British throne. Diana was involved with dozens of charities and also raised awareness and advocated ways to help people affected with HIV/AIDS. As we all know Princess Diana died in a horrific car crash in a Paris tunnel on August 31, 1997. She left us that day – but never left our hearts and memory. This is her story in her own words.

The Essential Lord Kitchener

Horatio Herbert Kitchener, born on June 1850 in Ballylongford, County Kerry, Ireland was a great soldier and statesman. Kitchener was credited in 1898 for winning the Battle of Omdurman and securing control of the Sudan for which he was made Lord Kitchener of Khartoum, becoming a qualifying peer and of mid-rank as an Earl. As Chief of Staff (1900–1902) in the Second Boer War he played a key role in the conquest of the Boers. His term as Commander-in-Chief (1902–09) of the Army in India saw him quarrel with another eminent proconsul, the Viceroy Lord Curzon, who eventually resigned. Kitchener then returned to Egypt as British Agent and Consul-General. In 1914, at the start of the First World War, Kitchener became Secretary of State for War, a cabinet minister. One of the few to foresee a long devastating war, lasting for at least three years, and with the authority to act effectively on that perception, he organised the largest volunteer army Britain had ever seen, and oversaw a significant expansion of materials production to fight on the Western Front.
